I couldn't think of any reason not to, so here I am.

I was reading through my older entries and it sure has been awhile! We have had a lot of changes in our life since then. Our oldest daughter is now married and we have had another graduation...3 years ago...lol...time flies. We now homeschool, which has been a wonderful blessing from the Lord. I can't imagine not doing it. We just finished our fourth year and, Praise God, it was our best year yet. We have also changed churches, which was very hard. We had been at our church for six years, but the Lord had led us to move on. It was the right decision for us, we now attend a church 30 minutes away (previously we traveled 5 min.), but we know it's the Lord's will for us to be there. We have met several wonderful families and believe we are finally learning to be who God wants us to be. I pray that we can continue to grow in Him and be used for His glory.

I plan on sharing pictures of not only projects that I am working on, but also of our family. We are looking forward to a very eventful summer. A friend of our family is getting married in July and we are very excited about that. We also plan on attending a fair or two and a rodeo in Vermont. We will also camp, fish, ride bikes, hike and fellowship with family and friends. The Lord has truly blessed us with family and friends. It has been exciting making new friendships with our church family.

Well, I guess that is enough of an update for now. I look forward to writing again soon. I hope to have my entries be a bit more interesting, but felt a small update was in order. I may just bore anyone that reads this blog...I hope not, LOL

Mason Dixon dish cloth

First of all, sorry about the picture. Not the best, camera needs batteries so I used the scanner. Anyway, I think I'm keeping this one. I don't have any of these, I've given them all away, so I may keep this or not. Not sure yet.

I went back to the doctor's again. I'm on three new prescriptions so perhaps soon I will feel normal again.

I'm currently working on a felted bag for myself and really wanted it done for this weekend, but it's not going to happen. That's okay, I just started it Saturday anyway. So, I'm sure I'll have it done by the following weekend.

I received an MP3 player from my daughter and her boyfriend. They new I wanted one and I said I was going to ask for one for Mother's Day and they decided to surprise me. I love it! It is the neatest little gadget. It is made by Creative, it's a Zen. It's so cute, it's white and orange and I can put up to 500 songs and pictures on it. Too cool! I love music and the kids usually have the television occupied when I'm knitting so now I can listen to music while they watch tv and I knit.

The secret pal 9 is ending in a few weeks. I have enjoyed it so much! It's been fun shopping for someone and getting to know people. I'm not sure if I will sign up for SP10 or not. I might, depending on finances.

I guess that's it for now. I need to go take my medicine and get more chores done. Unfortunately, the medicine makes me dizzy and drowsy. So chores will have to come first. I fell asleep knittng yesterday afternoon. It was a good thing my husband Bill had the day off.

Oh I forgot to mention! We went to a play with our church family and it was amazing. It was in Providence, RI and Bill and I had never seen a play before. It was called "Wicked" and if you have seen it you know that you will never watch the Wizard of OZ and think of the witch in the same way. If you haven't seen it, you really should. It was wonderful!

Okay, now I better go!

Forgive me for bragging

But I made my mother-in-law a felted purse for Christmas and it's my favorite so far. I wanted to keep it, LOL! It was done in Mauch Chunky and a red mohair. I made I-cord handles and mixed in a little bit of Patons Glitterspun in the top of the bag and the handles. The grey yarn is by Galway. I am so happy with the way it came out! I ended up completeing 13 Christmas gifts and was very pleased with that. Not counting some miscellaneous wash clothes. I hope all that received a knitted gift was pleased. My total completed projects for 2006 is 77! That does include EVERYTHING! I'm hoping to reach 100 for 2007, but I have some big projects planned so we will have to see.

A question for my secret pal. I haven't heard from you in a while via e-mail. I'm hoping your not ill. Drop me a note when you get time. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. I know your very good about reading my blog. I know I should go to the doctor's but I just keep thinking it will go away. Well, it's not. But anyway...I have been a busy knitter. I hope to put some pics up by Monday. I couldn't sleep last night so I started a pair of mittens for Billy (he's 4) and I was very nervous, I've never made mittens. So I pulled out a pair I printed out courtesy of Lion Brand Yarn. I had some beautiful navy Chunky yarn and started knitting. I worked on the ribbing for awhile before I had to put the kids to bed. Then I snuck back downstairs and finsihed one of the mittens. I didn't get to bed until 1:00 but I was so excited that I figured it out, I didn't care what time it was. That is until this morning when I had to get up at 5:30 to chat with hubby for a bit before he left for work. Then I decided to go downstairs and start the mate to the mitten. I fell asleep in my chair for about 10 mins., LOL. I am always an early riser but I am almost always in bed by 10:00 or 10:30. So I'm a bit tired today but I'll perk up. I'm anxious to get the other mitten done! I also did a scarf for one of my daughters and a felted headband (nice and warm and fuzzy) for another daughter. Along with that I crocheted a snowflake for a neighbor, I still need to pin and starch it, but I think I will make another one to go with it. Christmas is getting close, I need to figure out how many more gifts I need to knit!

On another note, I sent my SP9 pal her package on Tuesday. I can't say anymore about it, don't want to spoil any surprises. But I'm very excited to hear from her when she received it!

Okay, off to do chores so I can spend some quality knitting time at some point today!

The Gingerbread Party

Well here it is! I finally got blogger to cooperate with my gingerbread party pictures! Three out of five of our kids participated. The oldest two were occupied with their own decorating and shopping for the holidays! For those of you who don't know which kid is which, the first picture is our dd #3, Krista, she is almost 12 and loves ALL crafts! The next picture is our youngest and only boy, Billy he will be four in about two weeks. If it involves making a mess, he is in! The final picture is our youngest DD, Tara, the quiet shy one. She is seven and puts up with a lot from her brother. I think we ended up making nearly seventy assorted gingerbread shapes. They had a blast! The mess looks worse than it was and the entire project from start to clean-up was about two hours. Only because we took our time and did a lot of goofing around. I hope you enjoy our pictures!

Some gifts done!

Well, I have a few more gifts done. I really need to get cracking. I was on a roll and lost momentum, gotta pick it back up! I did another Christmas Tree but in green with read and green beads, I don't know why the picture didn't load. Anyway I also did a knitted doily in Euroflax linen. I love the way it came out and it was pretty quick! I'm currently working on a felted bag for my sister's friend, I don't really feel like working on it because it's not one of my projects that I need. Isn't that selfish of me? I have done so many bags, close to a dozen if not more, that I feel burnt out on them. I am also currently working on some crocheted snowflakes. I did six of them two weeks ago to hang in my living room. I'm doing a different one now and am almost done with it, it's so pretty. It will be a gift as well.

I made a bunch of gingerbread cutouts two weeks ago with the kids. Can you tell from the pics how much fun it was? LOL It was quite messy, but well worth it. I'm doing a gingerbread theme in my kitchen this year. They smell so nice, but don't eat them! They are made with applesauce, cinnamon and glue! The two oldest girls weren't home when we did this, so I will have to do it again with them. (For some reason Blogger isn't showing all the pics I have uploaded of our gingerbread 'party') I will have to try to add them again later. Tried two more times and it's not working. I'll do a seperate post maybe later with the pics.

I have also been busy Christmas shopping. Mostly on the internet. It's just easier not having a car during the day. I've been finding some good deals. This has really been cutting into my knitting time. I'm getting a little nervous and my have to reevaluate my knitting list. I have a few ideas that are non-knitting that I may do, it will be less time consuming with a lot of thought still in the giving.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I want to go finish that snowflake and start another!

By the way, a quick wave to all my dear friends at the Heaven & Earth BB.

My apologies

I have been awful this month maintaining my blog, I'm so sorry. I've already written my secret pal and explained my lapse of blogging.

My kids seem to be coming down with one illness after another and Thanksgiving was my exception. I'm hoping everyone is on the mend so that I can get back to my normal routine.

I have accomplished very little knitting as well. Although I did manage to crochet six snowflakes for my curtains. I will try to take pictures of what I have accomplished this month.

I'm also working on some special things for the person I get to spoil. I don't want to say anything more about it, just in case!

It is supposed to get up to near sixty degrees here today in lovely New England, so I am going to take advantage of that and go for a walk this afternoon with my dear friend Cindy. Our families got together over the weekend and had a wonderful time together. We always have fun when we get together and should plan on doing it more.

Okay, well, I need to get the kiddies off to school. I promise I will have a better entry either later today or tomorrow.

To my pal, I hope your trip was wonderful. I'm eager to hear how it went. We still need to trade recipes!

Some quick finishes and a Thank you to my SP9 friend

Okay, the first picture is of two dishclothes. The one is, of course, the MDK Warshrag done in Peaches and Cream and another cotton that I purchased a while ago from my LYS. I'm drawing a blank as to the brand, sorry! The second dishcloth is the Petal Dish cloth that Stephanie from the MDK KAL posted and was so kind to include the link to the freebie. Wish I knew how to do that! It was very quick and I love it! Both dishclothes are gifts, so I will have to make my own at a later date. I am thining on trying to go down to a size 4 or 5 needle and use Euroflax linen, for a doily. I'll keep you posted on that thought!

The second photo is of a nice package that my SP9 friend sent me. She is so thoughtful. It's a wonderful magnetic note pad with the saying "I'm so far behine I think I'm first"...LOL....boy do I comprehend that saying! And she also inlcuded a lovely card, pictured above, with a wonderful note in it. I'm very lucky to have a wonderful SP9 friend. So to my pal....a big THANK YOU! It made my day to open my mailbox and find a wonderful pick me up!

Well, that's it for now! I am working on a nine patch dishcloth and would love to finish it today! So I'm off to knit! (right after my daily chores, perhaps?)

Did lots of knitting last week....

I did a bunch of knitting last week for two of my nieces....and I forgot to take pictures. UGH! I made them each a very cute felted purse and a scarf. I did all of that in three and half days. I was very impressed withmyself (pats herself on the back) and they came out so cute! I will have to take a picture next time we visit.

I am back on track with my the Christmas knitting. I finished the Christmas Tree above. It is much nicer in person and I plan on making another. This time in a solid so that you can see the beads on each branch better. I used Sugar N Cream Yarn. It is a free dishcloth pattern (sorry don't know how to link). If your interested leave a comment and I can maybe send it to you. I can't even remember the site right now! LOL Anyway, it is a good size and I starched it to keep it's shape. I'm thinking on putting it on a clear plate and wrapping Christmas goodies to put on it.

I'm having fun with the SP9. I've been talking with my pal (the one I am buying for), through e-mails pretty regularly. I don't want to include any details, you just never know who is reading it.

My pal, has left me a couple comments, e-mails and a wonderful e-card! I'm lucky to have a wonderful pal both ways!

I'm hoping by the end of this week to have some more gifts done! I can't believe how close Christmas is!

To my Secret Pal

Sorry, I didn't post this yesterday, but Sunday was kind of full yesterday. So here I am today!

I have been knitting my Christmas gifts the last few weeks and am really on a roll! I just did another washrag from Mason Dixon Knitting. Now I am working on a dischloth in the shape of a Christmas Tree. I just started it last night and hope to finish it by tomorrow. Who knows, maybe tonight!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you. You have my e-mail address so feel free to e-mail me. I realize now that I have your address! DUH to me! Sometimes the hampster falls asleep on the wheel, LOL.

I'm looking forward to this SP9. It's all official now! Talk to you soon!

Some knitting thoughts!

Okay, so I am getting very excited! I have joined a few KALs, as you can see from my buttons! Plus another KAL, I don't think they have a button, (yup they do have one and I added it!) it is the Who Wouldn't Love A Handknitted Gift? It looks wonderful! The basics are you decide how many handknitted gifts you intend to make for the holidays. You set your goal and they keep a "tally" of how many you have completed and how many left to meet your goal. I think it's a fabulous way to support each other and encourage everyone to "get knitting"! I set my goal for 12, but honestly I'm hoping for more. Who knows? I'll probably be lucky to get to five, LOL!

I'm also very excited about the SP9! My questionnaire has been posted and I have been reading many blogs and reading there answers. It's so interesting to read everyone's likes and dislikes.

I have a new bee in my bonnet! I have been reading about spinning and I am thinking on hinting for a drop spindle beginner set for Christmas! I love to learn new things

SECRET PAL 9 QUESTINNAIRE

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I love wool, alpaca. I love Farmhouse yarns and would love to try Koigu. I also love Sugar n Cream dishcloth yarn! I am not a huge fan of Euroflax.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have the Denise set, which stores itself. Though I wouldn’t mind another empty Denise box to put my companion set and extra cords for the Denise set it. As far as my others, I have two handmade holders.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I started knitting Valentines Day 2006. That is when I seriously started. I learned the technique the previous winter but didn’t get into it much. I don’t think I’m a beginner. But I know I’m not advanced. Intermediate? I guess, I’m not sure. I like to try new things and my LYS is very helpful!

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

No.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)

I love vanilla scent and anything soft. Bath products, I’m always on the look out for something new to try. I love the Heaven & Earth Essentials. It’s on the internet and I love their soaps and body lotions. My favorite is Cherry Blossom and Bubbles.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Oh my yes do I ever! I love dark chocolate and I love peanut butter. I also love nuts!

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

I’m really just into the knitting right now. I used to do counted cross stitch, but have gotten away from it. I also crochet, but don’t enjoy the process as much as knitting. No, I don’t spin, but would love to give it a whirl some time.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your
buddy wants to make you a CD)
I love Country music. I don’t have a MP3 player or an Ipod. Just a cd player.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

I love pinks, purples, pastels. I also love lime green, and autumn colors. I don’t really care for black or white.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I am a wife of 20 years and we have five children. Four girls, one boy. Ages ranging from 19 to 4. We have one dog and four cats.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

Yes, I wear all of the above!

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I don’t know if I have a favorite item to knit. I love the process. The dishcloths are fun, but I also love doing the felted bags. They work up quickly and there are so many options.

13. What are you knitting right now?

I am working on a Log Cabin afghan, a pair of socks, a baby bib, Irish Hiking Scarf and I just cast on my first ever sweater for my son for Christmas. I also always have a dishcloth going!

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

I love handmade gifts!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I have the Denise set and I love them. I also have bamboo straights. I have one pair of Brittany size 6 and they are my favorite straights!

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

No, but I am putting them on my Christmas list!

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

I started a baby afghan in June for a friend. I just kind of did my own thing with the purse. It came out really cute and if you look closely on the bag I did a wee bit of "embroidery" with some green yarn. I kind of swirled it to attach the flowers. I made her a little change purse to match. The other picture is of a scarf. It worked up so quickly. I used size 13 needles and cast on seven. Just did garter stitch until the yarn was gone. She seemed to like them. I think the other people at the party liked them more. A few hinted for their own, and I'm talking about the adults. LOL Other birthday news, I turned 40 on 9/21 so I guess I better update my profile. I received some wonderful gifts. I'll have to take some pictures to share all of my "stash" with everyone. I'll make sure I do that for my next blog entry. I also started my log cabin afghan. DH took me to my LYS and I purchased the yarn for it. Twenty four skeins of Galway, what a guy! That's it for now, I'll be sure to post some birthday stash pics!

I have been a busy knitter!

Okay, it's been awhile since I posted and I have been a busy knitter. I love the Mason*Dixon Knitting book! Here are some photos of some of my FO's. The top (I hope), is the baby Kimono, it is my first completed clothing item. The next picture should be the lime green/purple dish cloth set. It has two ballbands, the nine patch and with the extra yarn I just did some stripes. All four dishclothes are shown in the next photo inside the felted box from Mason Dixon Knitting, which stitched up in a few hours. In the next picture includes a MDK inspired dishcloth. I used the log cabin technique and enjoyed doing it. Can't wait to start a log cabin afghan! In that picture is also my first attempt at cables. I am pretty pleased with it and enjoyed it so much! I have written the Irish Hiking Scarf KAL to ask to join. I love that scarf and would like to join the KAL. I have also entered my request to join the Secret Pal 9 exchange. I think it would be great fun! I have a request from anyone who reads this. I would like to add buttons to my blog, but I cannot figure it out. Any help would be appreciated!

A "Finished Objects Extravaganza"!

Well, what do you think?! I've been busy! Starting at the top photo, two ballband dishcloths from the Mason Dixon Knitting book. Which I am very addicted to at the moment! The yarn is Sugar N Cream. I really love the color combination on this one and they were great fun to knit up. The other two dishcloths are multi colored Peaches N Cream done in the "Granny's Favorite" pattern. The solid yellow one was a lot of fun too, I can't remember the name of the pattern, but it was from a dishcloth book I purchased at AC Moore. The bottom picture is another felted bag. This one is really "funky" for my niece, Charity. I think she will really like it. It is shaped sort of like a lunch bag. The funky yarn is very long, hard to tell in the pic. but it is very cool. She loves cats so I added a cat button I purchased at a LYS. Currently, I am working on a Nine patch dish cloth, found at the Mason Dixon KAL. I posted my first post on that blog today. I have to say I am very addicted to the Mason Dixon blogs and book! Speaking of book, Maggie Sefton has her third book out. Title is A Deadly Yarn. I called my LBS today and they should have it in probably tomorrow. I love her two previous ones and am looking forward to reading the next one. I know Monica Ferris has a new book out also, Sins and Needles, I will get that one eventually, but it is in hard back only right now. I also read some of the reviews on that one and was surprised to read that several of her regular characters aren't in this time. I would like to read it, but may wait for the paperback version if I can. Guess that's it for now! Off to knit more, I am loving the nine patch so far and will post a pic when it's done!

Another completed bag!

I feel like I'm on a roll with these bags. This one is for my oldest DD, Kayla, she is thrilled with it. I used three different yarns. Two wools by Galway, it's their Heather Wool. Then the third was called Kiddy Print it is mixed with the pinkish/purple in the center. The bag has a flat bottom and I did the handles a bit differently. I saw on a website how they fold the bag in and use double pointed needles to make holes in the bag and you thread your I-cord through. I loved the process and it came out exactly how I wanted it to! I use a beaded trim I purchased at walmart, it has a kind of lace mixed in it. It seemed perfect for the bag and it wasn't too hard to keep nice and straight while I hand sewed it to the bag. I already have another one on the needles and hope to have it done by next week!

Another felted bag!

Well, this one worked up nicely. I made this bag for my sister-in-law, Nona. She loves green and I know she will enjoy this bag. I did a flat bottom using two strands of wool. The bag is done in one strand, except where there are "fuzzies", that is one strand of wool and one strand of what is called "bling". I am on a roll with these bags and I have a few more I want to do. But, I am taking a break from bags for a few weeks and am going to try to get going on some Christmas ideas. I'm hoping a Christmas in July KAL will happen on the Knitters Review BB. This bag and the small button up coin purse are for my sister's birthday. This was my first time doing I-cord instead of crocheting a handle. I must say I like it much better. Much firmer, even if it was a bit more time consuming, it was worth it. The bag isn't any particular pattern, I casted on 100 stitches with one strand of black wool, I then knitted in the round until the bag was roughly 13 inches long. The last three rounds I added a black angora type yarn, so soft! I would knit five and decrease one for the first two rounds, then decreased every three stitches and bound off the following round. When it was off the needles I sewed in clear crystal beads every three inches or so. And this is how it turned out. I hope she likes it. I promised to make her one a few months ago, but I havent mentioned it since. I'm hoping to surprise her. I think I will knit up another small button coin purse for one of the girls, I would like a quick finish. Even though this bag took only four days, I feel like a quick finish! Thanks to the people who gave me such nice comments in my previous entry, your all too sweet!

Button up clutch, coin purse

I found this pattern at Lion's Brand Freebie patterns. It works up so quickly. It's only about four inches big, perfect for coins, credit cards, etc.
I'm going to be including it with the black felted bag I am now working on for my sister's birthday. I think she'll like it. I used black wool and Zodiac yarn. I plan on making a few more, it only took me about two hours, maybe a little less. I sure am hooked on this knitting thing! I now have a wish list in my head a mile long. I would love a set of Denise Knitting needles, more bamboo dpn's, an electronic plus row counter, a swift and ball winder. And of course, YARN! I can't believe the amount of wonderful, free patterns on-line. I am creating a notebook of free patterns. I hope to be starting my Christmas ideas in July. I need to finish my sister's birthday gift and one other gift before July. I would also like to finish anything else that is currently on my needles before then. Except for the afghan, that is much longer term. I'm close to finishing Kayla's socks (my oldest DD) well the first sock anyway. Then I will need to do the mate. I'm going to desperately try to finish the bag for my sister and three coin purses (like the one I pictured except different colors) before Tuesday. Tuesday is the last day of school and I thought it might be nice to give our kids each one of those, seeing how they expressed great interest and asked if they were getting one. Well, time to get the older kids up for exams today. And I'm in desperate need of coffee.

Two months have gone by...

I can't believe two months went by without updating my blog. I haven't been on the Heaven & Earth BB in so long. I feel bad about that, I haven't picked up a cross stitch needle since February. I fell in love with knitting in February and have neglected my other hobby of cross stitching. I will get back to it, I know I will. Just don't know when. It has been so much fun knitting things up for family and friends. I even have a Local Yarn Shop (I don't have a LNS) and I have taken a class to learn to knit socks. It was a three week class and I had so much fun! I am on my second sock and almost done with it. I have knitted close to thirty items since Feb. 14th (the day I discovered my LYS) and I have four other projects casted on. I will have to take some pictures and update my album to share with all of you. I just want to say a quick Hello to all my wonderful friends at Heaven & Earth Designs BB, Fudgey, Sonya, Nance, Michele (I will be placing a soap order soon), Jenifer and so many more! A big hug to all of you. I am planning on checking in with all of you soon.

I have been so sick!

UGH! There is some type of virus going around and it has hit me and my family hard! It started with oldest DD, fever, weak, no appetite, etc. Then it hit six year old daughter, Tara...I hope she will be able to go back to school today. Then on the weekend it hit my eleven year old daughter, she recovers quickly and usually bounces back, but yesterday seh wa sent home from school and had to have a strep test, it was negative and the doctor informed us of this nasty virus. Well, Sunday afternoon, it hit me and our son. We were in bed all Sunday afternoon, and night and all day yesterday and last night. Fever, chills, very week and no appetite. He started eating a little bit of toast late yesterday afternoon, but the thought of food still makes me shiver.

I haven't been able to stitch, knit or even go on the computer. I ran through a few of the BB's quickly this morning but didn't post anything. I am already tired. Last night was awful. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get Billy to sleep more than twenty minutes at a time. He kept whining and crying that he's sick. I felt so bad for him, and at the same time I just wanted him to sleep. Every bone in my body aches. The doctor said it lasts several days and even up to a week. I hope not...I feel like I have neglected my family. I need to make them a nice meal. The nights I couldn't cook, our oldest daughter made grilled cheese and soup and last night she picked up pizza on her way home from work. The kids are all chipping in, the ones that aren't sick, and the house is almost up to snuff.

Well, after reading what I just wrote, I apologize for the most boring pitiful post. (((hugs))) to you all, I miss being on the BB and hope to be back soon!

Bubbles QS - no picture/Knitting update

Okay, I had promised to work on my Bubbles QS and I did, it felt wonderful. I didn't make very good progress. Only got about 150 stitches in, I had 200 before the weekend. BUT, this one block that I only have partially done is full of detail stitches. I wanted to work my way down to her face and I have to go in blocks, I get too confused if I don't. I love the colors in this one, they are incredible. I hope to get more done on her this week. I know I promised not to pick up knitting needles, but I couldn't help it. I needed a break from my QS, the block I think has all 90 colors in it, LOL...so I picked up my knitting. I'm currently working on a backpack for my neice. I'm doing it in yellow and it is almost done. I should be able to finish it in the next day or so. I already have two braclets done for her and want to make a headband, which should be really quick. I would love to have her entire gift done this week and it is very likely that I will. I will still have another one to do for my other niece, but I have to wait to get the yarn, I'm leaning toward peach. So, if I concentrate on my knitting today, it can be cross-stitching for the rest of the week! Speaking of stitching....again...have I told you how many times I have fondled my supplies for Labyrinth? Oh my goodness, anyone who has been hesitating to purchase this, the threads and beads and fabric are all gorgeous! And Michele and Bob are incredible the way the put it all together. The fibers are in floss away bags on a metal ring. As are the crystals, which are in smaller bags inside the floss away bags. The beads are in tiny little square containers. I couldn't believe it was put together this way. It came to me already neat and organized. They are the best! Okay, time for coffee and to get the remainding children up and ready for school. Mondays are hard to get them going!

Back on the BB, and I received a package!

Well, my ezsupporter has been renewed and I am back in business. Still making changes to the blog, not sure if I like this blue. I'll keep it for now.

The mailman brought Labyrinth today! Oh my goodness, it is gorgeous! The threads, the fabric, beads, crystals and of course the gorgeous pattern. I can hardly wait to start. But I am going to wait. Want to see if I can get a decent amount done on other things this month. I also need to write Fudgey, she said she had some pointers on this pattern. Michele and Bob also included 2 body souffle samples, a soap and a beautiful scissor fob. I need to write them about the fob. I know Michele told me she was including some Haed Essential gifts (too sweet of them by the way!) but I don't know about the fob. I need to make sure it wasn't a mistake.

My friend Cindy came over today and we had a wonderful time. We looked throught Labyrinth, some HAEDs (my wonderful binder) and some fabric. We are going to take a knitting class together in May and I am so looking forward to that. She is very quick at picking things up so it will be nice to do this together.

Okay, off I go. I haven't posted since 2/27 because my ezsupporter needed to be renewed. I will be able to do that and be back posting! I have missed posting. I will have a lot of catching up to do!

Wow! Not to change the subject, but it sure is snowing! I can't believe how hard it is coming down. I wish DH was home. He just called and has a 45 minute ride home on a normal day. It will probably take him twice the amount of time. I best sign off now and start dinner.

Gee...Sonya....I posted twice today! hehehe Maybe I better getting moving on MIHTD...can't give you too much of a start on me! So I have been playing around a bit. Can't decide on the pic in my profile. I love it but blogger shrinks it down and now I'm not sure. May have to take a look at some others and maybe use that one as my new "doll".

As for my knitting, I have achieved a lot. I finished the small backpack I was working on for DD, she loves it and I'm thrilled with it. I believe I will make a few more. I have birthdays for two nieces coming up in April and I think they would love them. Also found some patterns for matching headbands and really "cool" bracelets. I think these would make fantastic birthday presents for them. I am really excited about my new knitting hobby. But alas, I am hearing voices. They are coming from HAED...."Bubbles QS" is very loud right now and I am thinking I may need a break from my knitting to calm her down. This is so hard....I had a difficult time rotating between HAED projects now I have to rotate knitting with HAED and each individual project under those! UGH! Why do I complicate things?! Well, off I go! More snow heading this way today, so kids are getting out of school early. I will see what I can accomplish before the gang gets back home...chores, knitting or Bubbles?

BTW, I think I beat you Sonya! I have been busy knitting lately. I have the knitting bug, bad! In the last two weeks I have made three scarfs, one pair of slippers, and two dish clothes. I started on a mini backpack yesterday and am having a go at circular needles. My camera is misbehaving so I have no pictures at this time. I hope to rectify that soon! I am enjoying the knitting but am mad that I can't stitch and knit at the same time. I will be getting back to my stitching when I finish this project. The knitting really takes a toll on the carpal tunnel. Still can't figure out why I can't do paragraphs anymore! Anyone who reads my blog and can figure out why help me! Anyway, on to my next subject. I have been doing our tax return and my oldest DD's, so computer time has been greatly neglected. I have hardly posted on the HAED BB at all in the last several days. I went to post today and realized my ezsupporter has ended. I will fix that on Friday, payday. So, I probably won't post until then, as my posts will look quite humorous! LOL I want to say HELLO! to my friend Cindy...she is an amazing stitcher and is discovering the joys of internet stitching supplies. I felt it was my duty to send her a bunch of links to shops and message boards. I hope you got them Cindy. I also sent her my blog, if you decide to read it, it's a great way to fall asleep. LOL (by the way, Cindy...I am really looking forward to your visit on Friday!) I am going to call the knitting shop today to find out about the sock classes taht Cindy and I hope to venture into! Next topic, stalking the mailman. I finished paying for Labyrinth at the same time Michele and Bob were leaving for Vegas so I don't have it yet. BUT, they informed me yesterday that it would be out today at the latest. Just making sure all the threads were in the kit that are required. They are so great at communication! So I guess it will be here around Friday or Saturday, my mailman is safe until the end of the week! Next...I also want to send a big hug to Nance all the way down in warm, sunny Florida. She is home and recovering from her surgery. I e-mailed you Nance. Okay, I really need to get my coffee now!!

Hmmm....

lots twirling around in my mind! First, I want to send a big hug to Nance, who found out yesterday that she will have to go through surgery on her ankle. I am so sorry Nance. I replied to your e-mail and just wanted you to know again that I'm thinking of you. Sonya, go read the comments in Fudgey's blog, looks like we were reading her blog at the exact same time. Great minds think alike! And you only have a few more days until you are happy dancing! I will be so jealous of your blinkie! But you deserve it and I am very proud of your achievement. I have been knitting up a storm, I finished my slippers, a scarf for Billy and started a very elegant looking scarf for oldest DD. I want to get back to my stitching today. MIHTD is not pleased with my new knitting experience. So I had better invest some time with her (and him) today. I am also awaiting the mailman, I beleive my Labyrinth kit will be here today or tomorrow. I will e-mail you Fudgey, when I am ready. I'm taking you up on your offer for some helpful hints. I can't wait for it to come so I can fondle. Speaking of fondling, this knitting store is dangerous for fiber fondlers! Heaven! Well, I had better go, the kids are on vacation from school this week so if it looks like I'm absent from the BB this week, that is why. Thank you for bearing with me and getting through my blog, I love reading the comments. And I enjoy reading your blogs as well!

So many things I want to do!

These darn books I've been reading! They are knitting mysteries by Maggie Sefton, Knit One, Kill Two and now I'm reading Needled to Death. I know they saw kind of 'ick' but they aren't! The author gives such wonderful detail with the knitting and the shop the main character frequents. It makes me want to go there! Well...I kind of did! There is a knitting store less than five minutes away, Knitwits, and it is glorious! So many gorgeous colors and types of yarn! I purchased two hanks of Alpaca wool in a scrumptious variegated blues/greens and a hank of 100 percent Eqyption cotton. I also purchased two sets of bamboo knitting needles. They are so much nicer to work with than metal in my opinion. I am going to try to knit booties/slippers with the alpaca wool, and dishclothes with the cotton. I have started both and so far so good. The lady at the knitting store had a wonderful gift idea. She said she has seen people make beautiful washclothes and wrap them with pretty soaps as a gift. Hmmm...wonder where I can find some wonderful soaps! So, I'm thinking on doing that as gifts at Christmas time. Maybe start the clothes here and there and find out from Michele (HAED) what the normal shelf life for the soaps are. I think it would be a very neat gift! Now as for my stitching.................................still plugging away on "dance" and posted my progress in the brat sal. I'm pleased with my progress and am itching to get back to it. Haven't stitched in almost two days and I'm having withdrawals. This week I make my final payment on Labyrinth (HAED original) and I know I will want to start that right away. I'm still debating on a rotation. So many things I want to do. I really don't want to be a screamer, but I may have no choice. Whenever I try to organize a rotation I have issues. Oh well, the main objective is to stitch and be happy, right? Speaking of stitching, I have to go update my wish list. Elaine Cox has been added to the HAED family and I am loving Pensive. There is something about it...it's how I imagine Fudgey. Don't know why, just is. I will have to purchase it! I'm also itching to start Bubbles QS, it is so screaming to be started. I think if I had my floss wound on to my bobbins I probably would have started her. I dread doing that, but that is how I like my threads. UGH...perhaps I can tackle that this weekend. The girls and I always watch DVD's on Friday night. We call it "Gilmore Girl" friday. The Gilmore Girls is a television show they love, I had never watched it, but my 15 year old has acquired the DVD's so they are trying to catch me up on friday nights. I must say, I'm hooked. So this might be a time to wind some bobbins, LOL Okay, I must go finish my chores!

I must figure this out...

Okay, Michele at HAED was too generous (again). I requested a QS or Storykeep of Selina Fenech's Bubbles. Now that I smell like her, lol, I feel the need to stitch her. Not only did she chart it, she sent it tome. I have the fabric and floss (which needs to be put on bobbins, yuck) and want to start it. I am going to have to figure out a rotating schedule. I don't like being a screamer...I want organization. My dilemma...when do I do what? Okay, I have QS Dragon Fae, "Dance" and now Bubbles. I will be doing Sea of Roses over now that I know 28 count over one is for me! I'm not even going to work on Sea of Roses for awhile now anyway. So I have two QS's and one large one. There are so many options, I don't know where to begin. Do I partipate in QS Wednesday and rotate Wednesdays? Do I do "Dance" during the week and QS on weekend or vice versa? I get more stitching time usually during the week. I want to finish Dragon Fae QS (I want to be done with it and earn my blinkie), but I also am in love with the way "Dance" is working. AND I'm eager to start Bubbles. What is a girl to do? For the time being, I am going to work on "Dance" until the 13th, that will be one months time on it. Then I want to start a rotation. I like the way Lana & Nicole get a certain amount done on theirs then move on to the next rotation slot. I know I only have three that I want to rotate. Perhaps I could do it that way? I should be able to finish the section of "Dance" that I wanted to this weekend so I could start rotating next week. Sorry this was so long....as you can tell, I'm just kind of thinking out loud. LOL I will find a way to make something work.

I gotta find out from Fudgey if I can take Sea of Roses out of my year end goal and put Bubbles in there in her place.

Oh! We have a blizzard coming our way...YEAH! As long as we don't loose power I will be stitching and perhaps reading. DH bought me two books, they are needlework mysteries. Knit one, Kill two and Needled to Death. I haven't ready anything by this author. I have read all the Monica Ferris ones. So far Knit one, Kill two is very good. I enjoy reading in bed when my eyes are too tired to stitch.

Until next time...

Neglected my blog...

Lots to get too! First, as some of you know, I had to go into the hospital for unexpected surgery (a hurrnia), I'm on the mend and feeling better every day! I received lots of e-cards, two HAED QS's, and some lovely HAED Essential products that are to die for! I have so many thoughtful BB friends, it blows my mind. At home, everyone has been so kind and helpful. Flowers, cards, hugs etc. My sister surprised me with not only a beautiful boquet of flowers, but she came over and brought me breakfast, did some laundry and housework and then took the time to just sit and talk with me. She is so special. I also had numerous phone calls from the ladies at our church. They offered to bring meals and anything else I may need. My parents were above and beyond the call of duty, which surprised me I must say. I think we have grown closer the last few months and that can only be a good sign. Now the fun stuff...for some reason I can't get my blog to let me seperate paragraphs hmmm...this is perplexing, I don't like everyting jumpled into one paragraph. Looks to daunting. Ugh, why can't I do this..........................................................................................................................I'll try that. First, I am excited, I won an ACEO and will bid on another. They are BK Lusks and I will share them with you after the second auction is over. Second, I ordered two books, needlework mysteries. I love those! I have all the Monica Ferris ones, and I ordered two by a different author. They came in yesterday and I hope to pick them up today. The titles are Knit One, Kill Two and Needled to Death. Corney I know, but I'm looking forward to them non the less! Next item................I need to get my HAED patterns organized. They are all limp on a shelf. I would like to get to staples and get a large binder and a cheap three hole bunch, and some tabs. I dream of thumbing through all the pages of my wonderful charts! Last, stitching progress....Dragon Fae QS surprised with a day of stitching and I was pleased with my progress. "Dance" felt a bit neglected so I have been mainly working on background, I may have close to 1000 new stitches in the background. I'm not doing an update photo until the 13th, this will be one month I believe. I'm hoping to get a bunch more done by then. Who knows? Okay, well there was an assortment of "goings on". Off to get some AM stitching time in and to see if I can figure out why I can't do the paragraph thing! OH, and did I tell you I smell like "Bubbles"? LOL big hug to Michele, Bob and Fudgey!

End of Week Two for "dance"

Well, this is after two complete weeks of stitching. Not bad progress considering I don't really touch it on the weekends. I'm really hoping to concentrate on a lot of the background for this week. I am enjoying this a lot and really find I am preferring the 28 count over one than anything else I have used for me other HAEDs. I want to keep on plugging away on this one for awhile.

Speaking of HAED they had to go and have a sale! I am still having Bob take $10.00 out every week to purchase Labyrinth and I hope a few more weeks and I will be there. There are so many other HAEDs I want right now. If I could pick one, it would be the Scotland QS. I am dying to do a black and white and think that would be perfect. If the sale lasts until next Friday I may get that one. I'm trying to be good as I want to have Labyrinth soon.

The BRAT PACK now have "blinkies" which is a great way to recognize each other. The official SAL starts on Wednesday! I can't wait to see everyone's WIPs. I almost feel bad that I started early, but I couldn't help myself. I think they will forgive me, as I am a slow stitcher. We also have a new thread (Thanks Nance) so that we can post our WIPs in it to keep track of everyone's progress. I think it will work out nicely.

Well, dear son, Billy is being very demanding right now, so I guess I better go!

How did this happen? And Mirabilia Cameo

Okay, I was just minding my own business when the new releases came out. I love so many of the Caron Vinson ones, don't own any and I'm trying to be strong. I know I will get one eventually, but I really want to save for Labyrinth. Now, in the new releases were some BK Lusk. I have to admit that my taste didn't usually go into that particular direction. Until....http://www.heavenandearthdesigns.com/twilightfairyl.jpg...now how am I to resist that! Well, I have my eye on an ACEO card, that I may try to obtain. I just love looking at this design! I will not faulter from working on "MIHTD", I am having way too much fun. But, if I can't obtain the card, I may have to purchase this pattern. Now, don't go looking anywhere for the card to bid against me! LOL

On to the next subject...I put a post on the off-topic of the HAED BB about my "Mirabilia Cameo of Spring Queen". I know I will never finish it and what I have done is quite pretty, so why let it go to waste. I put a few stitches here and there a few beads and framed her. I am very pleased that I can now visually enjoy her! I have a wopping three. I wanted to get two that I saw in the Herrschners (sp?) catalog, but it never happened. I went for a looksy on eBay and found a seller who has a bunch of different ones. They are seven dollars a piece and I flipped over three of them. The ones I liked were a Mermaid, a Fairy and a Dragon. I gotta have them! The seller said if I bought all three (they are buy it nows) the shipping would only be two dollars! I am very tempted!

I also found a seller on ebay who is selling the Selina Fenech Fairy Philosophy cards...oh how I want those! They are just so beautiful! Which I guess isn't a big surprise!

I did a good amount of stitching earlier today and would like to be stitching now, but DH has a movie on that I can't even stand to listen to. It's a "war" movie, Uncommon Valour. I just can't handle that stuff. So instead I have been on the HAED BB and reading blogs. I love reading so many of them and try to post a comment when I can. Keep blogging everyone!

Well, I'm off to the BB again. Then off to bed. Hopefully I can get some stitchy time in the early morning. My favorite time to stitch!

A wandering mind....

I haven't put in a stitch all day! That is very strange for me! I always stitch in the morning. My morning wa a bit off as one of the "kiddies" was up way before her normal time. So no stitching, no news this morning. I like to listen to the news when I am stitching so that didn't happen either. Oh well...hopefully I will get a bunch of stitching time in tonight.

I feel kind of uneasy anyway, so I would probably make mistakes. I can't stand when I feel this way. Been happening more and more lately. I think it is normal for me. Para-menopause, that's what the doctor calls it. My mother was done with the entire 'menopause' by the time she was 43 or so. I will be 40 in September. Ugh...I can't believe I will be fourty this year. Where does the time go?

Enough of that, I want to talk stitching. I put in another 100 stitches last night on "dance". I don't seem to be able to get a good picture of it. Maybe when I have more done, it will be a bit easier. I am really enjoying the 28 count over one. I have to use my magnifer. I don't need it for 22 count or 28/32 count over two, but over one on 28 I must have it! Much easier on the eyes and the head. I am going to try to focus on this design for a while. I also wanted to try to jump into the QS Wednesday SAL, but I'm not sure. I won't this week, since I just started "dance" and don't want to stitch on anything else right now. I really want to try to "cook" on this one. I'm not expecting to finish it anytime soon...LOL...but I would like to really focus on it for awhile. I have some others I really want to do, but this will be priority for a while. In the back of my head I am thinking of that beautiful fabric, SMF's French Vineyard, that I purchased for Mirabilia's Fairy Moon. I still want to do that, I just don't know when. I really think the Mirabilia's are a nice break from the HAEDs, but I'm not ready for a break. I just finished a Mirabilia, so won't be starting that anytime soon. I just loved the fabric for Fairy Moon, and spent the most on that fabric than I have for any other fabric. It is gorgeous! Then I also have Enchanted Mermaid, I didn't pay much for the fabric but I have ALL the treasures, braids, beads, etc. for that one. I wish I could be a good rotator, but I have tried a few times, and I always go back to what ever catches my fancy. Oh well, guess that's just the way it is.

Speaking of new projects, I paid another $10.00 toward Labyrinth! It will be awhile before I have enough money, but that's okay. I know I will get it at some point. I'm thinking if I don't have enough by Valentines Day, maybe DH could pay the remainder. I know he probably wouldn't care. We'll see. I hope to have at least a page of "dance" done by then!

Okay, I'm off! Need to pick up some toys, vacuum and then start dinner. Until next time...

Was Happy Dancing yesterday!

I really should have posted this yesterday, but never got that far. I finished Blossom Harvest! I'm so very happy with the frame, good thing I had Kayla (Oldest DD) there to help me choose. It took me close to two hours to frame her but I love the finished piece.

I did something naughty last night. I just had to. For any "brats" reading my blog, and you know who you are, I had to start "MIHTD" last night. I need to make sure before our SAL officially starts that I can do the one over one on 28 count. I didn't get very much done, but I really don't think I can put her down now. February 1st seems ages away! I know I will be forgiven and will post a pic as soon as I have more done. I need to check and make a list of what other SAL BRATS have a blog. It will be fun to get to know of you better and encourage each other. I know we have the BB to do that as well, but I am more inclined to write more in my blog.

Well, we have a three day weekend so the kids are home through Monday, so I hope to get stitching time in. I would love to have a picture at the end of the weekend to share, but it's probably not likely. We are going over BIL's tonight to visit and the DH's will watch the Patriots play football. It gets so stressful whenever they make it this far. And they have been doing that a lot the past several years!

Enjoy the weekend my friends!

Random Thoughts inspired by Fudgey

I must say I found the last entry of Fudgy's blog most entertaining! Also very informative. So, I thought I would try to wing it! Here goes:

I want to finish Blossom Harvest, I should be stitching right now, but needed a break. I'm getting there!

I want to work on every HAED I own. New ones keep coming out and I find myself wanting them. Even though every time I buy one I think my collection is now complete. Yeah...right!

I had a very nice phone conversation today with Nance...it seems so cool to put a voice to the name. I feel like I "know" so many people through the HAED BB. She has told me to keep an eye on my e-mail box. I don't know what she did, but whatever it is, she shouldn't have. If you read this Nance, I hope your son is feeling better! (((hugs)))

Speaking of BB's, what is it about the HAED BB? There is no bashing, no fighting, no offensive posting. So many BB's have bashing, whether it's about a designer or a fellow stitcher. There are a few that I don't frequent anymore because of this. Too many negative emotions. What a waste of time. The HAED BB, lives up to it's name Heaven and Earth. A wonderful place to be with down to earth people. I thank all the moderators and of course Michele and Bob and the wonderful artists for all they do. You are appreciated and never forget that.

Don't you just love the feeling of contentment when you pick up a needle, it just feels right. Like it's the place to be. I am so thrilled to have found this hobby. It's really helpful to me right now. Without getting into too much detail, I am in what is called pre-menopause. I know I'm young only 39 but my Mom was the same way. I have had a lot of emotional ups and downs, more downs lately but I'm just repeating to myself that it is all "normal". I am really turning to my stitching for relaxtion and am finding that I am depending on that "stitching time" more than ever. I still do my household chores and spend time with my family so no quilt.

Well, it's about 10:00 pm here and I am going to try to put a few more stitches in before bed. Hope I didn't bore anyone. And Fudgey, if you read this, sorry I took your idea. You always have the best ideas! I am hoping to have her complete in two more weeks, less if I can. I want to stitch my HAEDs (cry, cry, tear, tear). I am in a good routine right now with my stitching and don't want to loose momentum. I still am amazed at how much faster this Mirabilia is going now. Before I worked on any HAEDs it seemed like it was going slow, but something happened to my skills, maybe? I think the complexity of the HAEDs enhanced my skills in some way, shape or form. So thanks to Michele and all the wonderful artists!

I'm still holding out for Selina Fenech's "May I have this dance" to be charted! I am also getting closer to purchasing Labyrinth. I have put $25.00 down so far! I think I am going to be adding three things to that order. I want the Dragon Fae Storykeep, Gothic Indigo (new release Caron Vinson) and if "May I have this Dance?" is charted by the time I have enough $ I could just get them all snail mailed to me at the same time!

In the meantime...I WILL finish Blossom Harvest! I love the way she is coming out, I just feel like nothing can compare to the HAEDs. I do have a few other Mirabilia's that I will do. Especially Fairy Moon, I have everything I need and I spend $48.00 on the fabric for her. I love that design and if I start a Mirabilia this year, it will be that one. Probably not until the latter part of the year though. I have my HAED goals to meet!

Visited by the frog...called a brat and a monkey

First, the nasty frog visited my Mirabilia wip, had to take out over 70 beads. Very true...but I am no alone. Sonya and Nance have joined me. Actually I think Sonya started it but we will stand by her. This design "May I have this dance?" has made us go bonkers. We can't help it. We need it and that's all there is to it. I know if it came out tomorrow I would not be able to start it, but I could get the fabric and floss. I'm sure my needle on my Mirabilia would be smokin' so that I could start this. I have already planned that I will grid by pages, I have looked into some fabric and I plan on purchasing the chart (when charted) and have it mailed to me with my Labyrinth kit. I am hoping within the next few weeks to have enough $$$$ to do so. Anyway, that's how all is going. This is a piece of art by Selina Fenech that I am in totally HAED over heels in love with. I am anxiously awaiting the day that Michele does this piece. I have to stitch it. I know Sonya on the BB feels the same way. So this blog entry is devoted to a beg and plea for this design! I know I promised myself I would not buy anything else until I had enough money for Labyrinth, BUT I was not expecting this. I will find a way to do both! This piece is a must have. So Michele, I doubt you have time to read all the blogs but if you happen to read this. Please....

I will go work on my Mirabilia (have to finish this so I can get back to my HAEDs) and dream about the day this art is charted. I love snow, and don't mind the kids all being home, once DH is home, I will be content. I think it will be a stitchy kinda day, I'm hoping! I stitched quite a bit yesterday and almost finished the yellow bustle on Blossom Harvest. I can't wait for her to be done!

I'm still giving my HAED goals a lot of thought. I know one of them, the Dragon Fae QS to complete. Another would have something to do with Sea of Roses, but not sure if it should be to complete it or do a certain amount of pages. I just know I'm going to have to have a new start, but don't which one. I could just leave it at two goals and figure out how many pages I would be able to complete on Sea of Roses. I always want to purchase and complete Labyrinth. So that could be my third goal. Not that we need three. So maybe I do have it figured out. Except, how many pages on Sea of Roses. I will have to ponder that for a bit more! The deadline is the 8th of January.

Has a side note, today is day two of the diet. So far so good. Just need to drink more water. This isn't ususally a problem, but because of the cold I have I only feel like warm drinks. Enough for today!

I hope to put up a new picture tomorrow with a good chunk of blossom done. Wish me luck!

HAED wips

It always amazes me to look at everyone's WIPs. They are truly amazing. I don't know what it is but it seems like everyone else trucks along and I kind of crawl. I am in awe of Jenifer's (loveforbeanies) progress on QS Tomboy. It is too beautiful and she just started it. I am posting a picture of it . If you read my blog, Jenifer, I hope that was okay. I will e-mail this to you to double check. I am just kind of "drooling" over her!

I almost wish I didn't promise myself to finish my Mirabilia, I so want to work on a HAED. I just think if I put her away (again) it will stay a WIP. She is so close to done and I think I can finish her by the end of January. I know I will feel a great sense of accomplishment when she is finished!

Well, I gotta go get some coffee. I can't look down without my nose running and my head feels like it weighs 1000 pounds. So any stitching is out.

I have been thinking about the HAED challenge/goal for the year. I think I will end up going with more than one goal. My first goal will be to finish my Dragon Fae QS, I still have about 3000 stitches or more to go into her so it won't be all that quick. My second goal has to be something with Sea of Roses. I only have 2000 stitches in her, so I will have to ponder this a bit. My last goal, is giving me a bit of trouble. I have to start at least one new thing this year! I am considering My Secret Place (Selina Fenech) she is so beautiful! I will probably go with 25 count fabric. Not sure on the color yet, I thought something in a very pale blue, but kind of blotted like the sky. I will have to consider all of this before I can post my goals.

I have been working on my cross stitch albums and uploading pics of pieces I have done. Still have a bunch to go, but I have to take a break. I feel very tired and week today. Hopefully, tomorrow I will feel better and at least be able to stitch a little bit. I have to finish my Mirabilia before I can even start my HAED goals!

Happy New Year to all! I can't believe another year has gone by. I know it's a time to be reflective and look ahead and make resolutions. I always make the same ones. Loose weight, more of this and less of that. I'm not going to look at resolutions, I'm going to look at it as living a better life. Healthier, happier and of course....stitchier.

I have to say I feel like I have made so many new friends this year, throught the BB's. I started on the Mirabilia BB and HAEDED over to HAED. I visit both and enjoy the time I spend on both. I kind of feel that while I love Mirabilia designs and will continue to stitch them, my heart is with HAED. Don't know what it is, it just IS. Michele and Bob are wonderful to deal with and Fudgey makes the board a home. As well as the other moderators and posters. A day can't go by without visiting the board several times a day. I love you all and appreciate the support and motivation you all give to me and each other. Unless you visit that board and see what goes on there, you simply can't understand. I'm not bashing other boards, I am just complimenting the HAED BB. (((((hugs to you all)))))

Now, Fudgey has issued what I consider a "challenge". She has asked every one to state one goal that they would like to achieve by December 31, 2006. If you achieve the goal, your name will be put in a hat with others who have achieved goals, whoever is picked gets a chart(s). Well, I want to achieve a goal. The problem is to pick one. I know I want to finish my Dragon Fae QS and I will, but I don't think it's fair to use that, seeing how I am close to halfway there. I need to look through my HAEDs and pick my goal. We have until January 8th and I want to give this lots of thought before I make up my mind. There are so many wonderful designs! I thought about Sea of Roses as I only have 1000 or so stitches in her, I think, but I want to make sure first. I will keep you updated on my decisions!

I am still having fun with our camera and want to put a pic. in here that is special to me. Of course, you have seen pics of my kids up on the BB and what is more special than the kids. But, I have known my husband, Bill, since I was 16 and he was my first boyfriend, my first kiss, etc. We have been through a lot as most couples have and will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in July. So I was going to put a picture up of him. But then I thought I would put a pic up of both of us. Even though, I don't like pictures of myself, this picture means a lot. Our oldest daughter took it of us on Christmas Eve. My husband insisted. The younger kids were all tucked in bed and we had just finished putting the gifts out. So that is the picture I have included for today.

I hope everyone has a happy and most of all healthy New Year!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://athoughtintime.blogspot.com/2005/12/happy-new-year-to-all-and-haed.html' title='Happy New Year to all! I have figured out how to get pictures posted to the BB's and hope to start work on some albums for photobucket. I have to say, I probably should have been stitching! I did stitch for a bit this morning and knit (a scarf for Billy) a bit, but I have become addicted to taking pictures! Bath time became photo time for our two youngest. They kind of had no choice, but they didn't care. I need to figure out how to post a pic here. I'm going to take some pictures of stitchy stuff and update my album over the course of the next week or so! Figured out the picture thing and here are our three youngest on Christmas morning! Krista on the left, Tara in the middle and Billy on the right!

I have officially started a lay-a-way for Labyrinth (HAED original) and I can hardly wait! This means that I need to stay away from sales and new releases! It will be touch, but I will just keep looking at Fudgey's wonderful WIP. She is really cookin'! Because of Fudgey (gotta blame someone) I am obsessed with this design. I put a message on the BB about a lay-a-way, if they don't do that I will just stick to my original plan of purchasing gift certificates until I have enough to buy it. I was so close to buying two of the "reduced inventory" patterns yesterday! I had the e-mail typed and ready to go, but then I thought it could be $$ for Labyrinth! I have never "done" silks and am too excited. Plus I think it would be a nice break from stitching pictures. I have done many samplers before but this looks so different. If it was a little cheaper I would consider getting it for my MIL, she would love it! I do think it's a good price for the kit though!

I hope our camera comes in today. Our brand new camera broke on Christmas day, I was so upset. I called HP and they are sending a new one out. No charge of course, and it should have been here yesterday but hopefully will be here today. After it comes I need to figure out how to upload pictures to the PC, then I can start posting some pics. I worked on Blossom Harvest yesterday and was pleased with my progress. I'm itching to get her done, she is so pretty and I love the SW fabric she is on...Blueberry Delight.

Now, to change the subject completely! I love our Christmas tree, we get a real tree and it is the best one we have ever had. Perfect shape, perfect size, etc. But it's been up since December 4th, has lost nothing in needles, and I had planned on keeping it up through New Years. The problem...I'm itching to get my house back to normal. Our living room (that's where the tree is) is not very large so the tree does take up much needed space, so that's why I want to take it down. I know our son (he just turned 3 ) will be sad, he loves the tree...but it has to come down sometime. It won't be any less hard in a few days. I will have to ponder this for a bit.

Well, off to check the HAED BB, again, lol....

Well, I think I got it!

I was posting on the HAED BB and all of a sudden it came to me! I will stitch solely on Blossom Harvest until she is done. If I get bored, I will add in my HAED QS. I will only do those two until they are finished! That will at least get me through January if not a bit longer. After they are complete, I will probably have a better idea of the "What's next in a rotation". There I feel much better!

Oh and because of Fudgey, I have now added a few HAED originals to my Wishlist! Labyrinth is gorgeous, and I think it would be a nice change of pace. The kit is $72.00 which is not that bad. I'm tinkering with the idea of buying myself a gift certificate to HAED weekly or bi-weekly in a very small amount like $5.00 or $10.00 then cash them all in when I have enough. It would almost be like a "lay-a-way". Hmm...I wonder if you can purchase them in small amounts like that. I will have to check into it!

If you read this Fudgey, you have enabled me once again!

The Party was a success! AND Pt 2 Still thinking...

I'm so happy! We had my side of the family over last night was a Christmas celebration and all went well. There was good food (even if I do say so myself!), and laughter. My side doesn't get together often, even though the family is very small so it was nice. My brother didn't come with his wife and two daughters, but I knew they wouldn't anyway. He has kind of disowned me and my sister, but at least he has contact with our parents. Anyway, it was an early night but a good time just as well!

Part 2 of this entry, Still thinking...
I am still trying to get my thoughts organized for some sort of stitching rotation, even though I have been unsuccessful so many times. I know the screaming method works best for me, but I am for the most part, an organized person. So the screaming method seems too unorganized. I think the key for me is to start off small. I have two wips that I desperately want to finish. They are the HAED QS Dragon Fae 1, and Mirabilia's Blossom Harvest. I am three quarters finished on Blossom and I think the halfway mark with my QS. I am also desperate for a new start, and I have two other WIPs, Sea of Roses and Arthur and Guenievere. Hmmmm....I will have to ponder this some more, it helps me to put it all in writing.

I didn't have this problem before I was addicted to HAED!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://athoughtintime.blogspot.com/2005/12/party-was-success-and-pt-2-still.html' title='The Party was a success! With the new year approaching, I thought it might be a good time to try to get back to it on a regular basis. I need to be in a routine so that I can continue to blog. I enjoy reading many blogs and get mad at myself when I neglect my blog.

I will be thinking up some New Year's Resolutions and try to organize my stitching. I have more WIPs than I have ever had and this is beginning to bug me. I'm so close to finishing Mirabilia's Blossom Harvest that I have decided to work soley on her until I finish. I use to be an OATTer until the wonderful world of HAED. I have three HAEDs started. Arthur & Guenievere, Dragon Fae 1 QS, and Sea of Roses. There are many more I want to start and I need to get all of this organized. I also have some Mirabilia's I would like to start, mainly Fairy Moon. So I need to discover a rotation that works for me. I tried rotating with Jenifer on the HAED BB, but I just couldn't do it. (Sorry, Jenifer :0( ) I think the "screaming rotation" works best for me and it's best if I stick to one for a longer period of time. So when this is sorted I will post it.

I guess that's it for now. I will "blog" more either later today or tomorrow. I have my side of the family coming over and am making a buffet so it will eat up much of my time. I'll try to link this blog to my ez board account for people to view.

~Terry

Graduation~Class of 2005

Last night, our oldest daughter Kayla, graduated from high school. It was so wonderful to see her up there in her cap and gown and receive her diploma. Words can't express how proud of her we all are. After graduation they had a all~night party at Avery Point. No alcohol and completely chaperoned. I just got home from picking her up at the high school. It sounds like she had a wonderful time. She is now sleeping and will probably sleep for several hours.

We are planning a graduation party for her today. There should be around 40 people attending. So, needless to say, we will be very busy preparing today. I'm going to go and stitch a bit this morning and then get things underway. Our guests will be arriving around 3:00 this afternoon. I hope all goes well!

Feeling blue

I woke up this morning, feeling pretty blue and it's not going away. It's kind of nervousy blue feeling if that makes any sense at all. Anyway, I know it's probably because there is so much going on right now. Between end of the year school activities, Kayla's graduation, Kayla's graduation party and finances. I feel stressed! I keep trying to say to myself that everything will be okay, just take it one step at a time, and then I think I'm good to go and whoop, something happens and it gets me down. It doesn't even have to be something major. I can't stand it when I feel this way. Kind of anxious too. I stitched for a bit this morning but it didn't help much and I have kept myself pretty busy today, but in the back of my mind is this "feeling".

Anyway, I need to go check the date for the deadling to enter the fair. I so hope I can make it. If not, I will keep on working on her (Blossom Harvest) until she is done. I do love her and want to hang her up soon! I just checked the date, and entry forms must be received by July 1st! I know I won't have her done by then, but I don't have to have her done until July 6th. So, I will just have to wait and see how much I get done by then and make my decision.

I guess I better go take a bit of time to work on her. Enough said for today...

Stitching progress

Just a quick note, I did stitch yesterday. Even if I don't get her done in time for the fair, I'm going to finish her. I will be so disappointed in myself if I don't. I'm thinking if I can get 20 hours a week in, there may be hope. I know that is a lot of time (for me anyway) but this is important to me. School is out the end of this week, so I can stay up later more often. I can stitch more in the morning because I won't have to wake anyone to get them going for school. I will try to spend less time on the BB's and more time stitching. I'll update my blog every couple of days to post my progress. I have to be determined! I usually do very well under pressure when it comes to completing things. I just finished Moncia Ferris's new book Embroidered Truths. For those of you who aren't familiar with her books, they are needlecraft mysteries. I really enjoyed this newest one and finished it in a few days. I have all of her books and she comes out with one sometimes two in a year. I eagerly await her next one!

I joined a Round Robin. It will be "Any designer band sampler" and the first mailing date is in late September. That will give me plenty of time to plot what I want as far as size and color are concerned. I look forward to getting that set up.

I wanted so baldly to stitch last night, but fell asleep in my chair. All the hard work of painting and cleaning and putting together photo albums into the wee hours of the night are catching up to me. I just had a cupof coffee and hope to put an hour or so of time into my stitching after I complete this entry.

It is Father's Day today and we have a special dinner planned for DH. So, I doubt I will get much time this evening. I have been so incredibly busy lately. As I have mentioned, I have been painting. Well, my small bathroom became a huge project. BUT, it looks wonderful! I went with a color pink, (close to DMC 3609 I believe), the trim is white and I purchased a border to run along the center of the walls. The border is pink/purple and is all fairies, butterflies and flowers. It is lovely. I also bought a few squares of linoleum for the floor soft powdery blue marble. It really compliments the room. Then I purchased a plain white shower curtain and a sheer curtain for the window. I found one of those metal tiepacks I think that's what they are called. You pull the curtain back and it hangs in it. The one I bought had a pink diamond ball on it and really sets it off. Now, can you even guess how much it cost for my new bathroom? Under $30.00. Is that great or what? I love the "oops" paint at home depot. They have gallons of paint that are returned because someone changes their mind and they resell the gallons for $5.00. I am so excited about the new look. I told DH and the kids that it will now be referred to as the "powder room". ~LOL

The rest of my time this week seems like it has gone to sorting out hundreds of photos. As a gift to my wonderful father-in-law, we took his photos and sorted them and purchased albums for them and put them all in. We gave them to him tonight, because DH works all day tomorrow. Well, my FIL was thrilled. I'm so happy that he was pleased. I think the world of my in-laws and we are very close.

Now this week we will be busy attending end of school year activities and getting ready for our oldest DD's high school graduation. She graduates Friday and we will have a big party for her Saturday so we will be busy again next week.

I do hope to get some stitching in this evening and the rest of the week. July is fastly approaching and I'm going to be so disappointed if I don't get Blossom Harvest done in time for the fair. I just remembered that I mentioned in my previous post that I had something particular I wanted to write about. Now for the life of me, I can't remember, LOL. I'll have to go read and take a look. That's it for now...I think :0)

What was I thinking? Weird HAED experience

Okay, so it's close to 90 degrees outside and the dewpoint is in the 70's. What do I decide to do? PAINT! Yes, again. The downstairs bathroom is really tiny and I have had the paint since January. I figure, I'm on a roll. I did the living room in less than a week, how long could a tiny bathroom take me. The difference...three layers of wallpaper that need to be torn down. I have one small wall left. I have blisters on fingers and a big mess. I really am going to shoot for being done by Thursday. Did I mention I will tile the floor as well. It is a very small bathroom and I think I have enough tile left from a previous project, so why not? The second I started tearing the wallpaper down, I thought..."Why, why now in this heat?" Then I answered myself with this: "Because you don't think! duh" Oh well, can't stop now. I am going to buy a border with fairies in it and hope to stitch Petal Fairy for the main wall. But, who knows when that will be. Which reminds me, my fabric for Petal and Water Mermaid (HAED) should be in this week from Mindy at SMF!

And speaking of HAED, I had a kind of weird experience. I really like some of the designs, not crazy about a lot of them. Anyway, I asked to get Water Mermaid without the background and was told it would be an extra ten dollars. Okay, no problem...I understand. I figure I will go with the regular print and do the e-mail version to save money. I have only purchased one HAED prior to this. Well, I was told that it would take an extra 40 hours worth of work and I should receive it in two weeks time. I thought, no problem. I have plenty to keep me busy. I went and paid for it on Friday the 10th and on Saturday the 11th it was in my e-mail. Does that seem weird? I was thrilled of course, but confused. One person told me one thing and another told me something else. No biggie, just thought it seemed odd. I really love some of the art work, but I don't plan on obtaining a lot of them due to the size. Water Mermaid shouldn't be too bad, since Mindy at SMF has this new fabric Oceanic, she did for this pattern at someone's request and I thought I would take advantage of it as well.

That's it for now...off to read some posts and then hit the hay. I love pink so I thought this would do. I accomplished my goal for the weekend and stitched almost four hours! I may finish her in time, who knows?! I was really hoping to get a picture of her this weekend but no go. Perhaps next weekend. I will have even more done by then! Who knows how much! Rain is in the forecast for this week, so maybe a bit more stitching time is on its way. I am really enjoying my stand. It is so much more comfortable. I hope my MIL can come over later in the week to give it a try. If she likes it and doesn't buy herself one, I may tell DH that it would be a marvelous Christmas gift for her.

Well, today was Sunday and the kids and I went to church (DH works Sundays), and I was so glad the Billy (2 year old son) stayed in the nursery with one of his older sisters. It's been over a month since I had heard a message and I get kind of down going to church and only getting to be in the nursery. I can tell, I was meant to hear the message today. Ever get that feeling? I love our Pastor and he definitley keeps your attention. The message today was about praying and how you need to know how to pray. I won't go into any long detail, but this message today really helped me think about a lot of things. You see, I'm a born again Christian and so are three out of five of our children. My DH is in agreement with me taking the kids to church and I know he believes in Jesus, but I'm not sure he gets the meaning of salvation. I pray for him but maybe not in the right way. I think I can pray in a way to help him more.

The kids only have two more weeks of school and I am happy to get out of the mundane (sp?) routine. I will probably still awake early for I love the mornings, especially if I can stitch. But just the hussle and bussle of getting everyone off at different times starts to get old come June. I know when it's time to be back, I will probably be happy to be back in my routine. ~LOL~

Well, it's late and I better get to bed. I'm hoping the BB's will be back to normal soon, as I'm sure most of you that read this hope so too!

Fellow bloggers...

On the Mirabilia BB there is a post for people to add their blogs so we can read them and kind of sort out where they are. I liked this idea since the board is moving slow due to less posting. Well, what a bunch of talented bloggers! I went back and skimmed through mine and was bored :0) There are soooo many talented writers out there and I enjoyed reading your entries. It inspires me more to keep mine updated and to be a bit more creative.

On a different note, I have to stitch! The fair is less than a month away and I still have quite a ways to go on Blossom Harvest. I will be so disappointed in myself if I don't complete her in time. You would think, with my new stand, that I will be at it more. I think it was just the painting that took me from her this week. Also, I really want to work on Arthur & Guenivere. I am going to promise myself, for the remainder of this weekend, I will get stitch no less than four hours on Blossom Harvest! I am also going to try to stay off the computer. So, I will let you all know how I did come Monday. Wish me luck, I will need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's been keeping me busy...

Well, I have been very busy cleaning and painting. All the trim in our living room, I repainted a very pretty creamey off~white. It seems closer to white than off~white. The color paint is actually called Swiss Coffee. Anyway, we have this "gigantic" built in book case in our living room where I display various knick~knacks and needlerolls, small pictures, sachet's that I have stitched or someone has made for me. I had to take everything off scrub the shelves (you never realize something is dirty until you clean it, lol) and then paint it. It took me most of the day to finish the living room (five kids and DH keep me busy, oldest DD was getting ready for her Senior Prom :0), and I am delighted at the outcome. I ordered some curtains that were deeply discounted on~line through JCPenney and hopefully they will be in early next week. The room is on the smaller side and this definitly makes it brighter.

I have only been stitching about an hour a day this week, wanted to do more but I got into the painting project and it stole stitching time. I really want to snuggle up to my new stand and put some hours into Blossom Harvest (I know you are probably sick of me talking about her, and I am anxious to complete her), but I knew we were going to have high humidity this weekend so today was the day to complete my painting.

I purchased the new Monica Ferris book. Shee writes needlework mysteries for those who may not know this. It is called "Embroidered Truths", I have only read about 60 pages or so, but I know I will probably finish it in a few days. They are very quick reads and I have all of her books now.

I did manage to wind 50 skeins of floss on to floss bobbins this week for my HAED Arthur & Guenivere. I hope to really dig into that after Blossom. I also ordered from Mindy at SMF the Oceanic fabric for HAED's Water Mermaid. I think she will look lovely with Mirabilia's Enchanted Mermaid. Seeing how I was placing an order anyway, I ordered Bewitched Opalescent for Petal Fairy as well.

I have found myself going to the Mirabilia BB a bit less lately, as I'm sure many of you have also. It just doesn't seem the same, being able to use just the one forum. I do agree with this and know it's just a matter of time before all is fixed. I miss the questions of the week an being able to go to the different forums. Counting the days until everything is back!

As I mentioned, our oldest DD is at her Senior Prom. She looked so pretty, I wanted to cry. Time sure does fly. It seemed like an instant ago she was learning to walk. Now, she's learning to drive. I can't wait for her to come home and tell me how it went.

Well, off to go check a few BB's and then perhaps stitch!

EZ BB's down...my purchase...Back on WW

Well, it is driving me nuts about the ez boards being down. I can't get to the Mirabilia board at all and I am still having a hard time posting on the HAED BB. Yes, I am know a HAED fan. I purchased Arthur & Gueneviere (sp?) at a discount and put in a few stitches to test it. I am stitching it on 25 count Ice Blue Lugana, over one thread with two strands and using the tent stitch. It will be a very different experience for me, but I'm looking forward to it. I have picked Blossom Harvest up again and am working on the yellows. I really want this done in time for the fair, the first week of July. It will be my first time entering a fair and I'm very excited about it.

I am also excited about this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8194736903#ebayphotohosting
I'm hoping my link works, if not just copy and paste it. I have wanted a stitching stand for a very long time. I found this one and knew it was in my price range if I was willing to give up a few things. No more FOTM, sold a bit more stash, no more buying stash. Let's face it I have enough to keep me very busy for a long time. I also plan on this being my birthday present. So that should work out. I have a hard time holding my scroll rods and q-snaps. After a little while, my wrist hurts. I'm not sure if this is related to my carpal tunnel or not. So I think the stand will work out nicely. I'm thinking if my MIL likes it we may get her one as a birthday/Christmas gift combined. Hopefully, she won't read My Blog ~ I don't think she does. If she does, hopefully she won't tell me (hint Sally if you do, don't let on, LOL)

In a previous blog update, I wrote about my trunk. Well it is wonderful! A bit bigger than I thought it might be, but I love it. It is in my front hallway so you see it right when you walk in. I have it opened with my needlerolls, hankies and doilies in it. It really is nice.

Well, I feel sad that I can't comment on the Mirabilia BB, about the new fairy. I'm not sure if I like her. I definitly don't like the wings. Otherwise, I think she's cute. I'm curious to read the feedback from all of my "buddies" on the Mirabilia BB. Hopefully, the problems will be rectified soon...

I found a trunk!

I have been looking for a trunk for a while now and I found a very small one that I fell in love with on ebay! It is very small. The measurements state 19 1/2 long by 12 wide by 12 deep. This will look perfect in our living room. The inside has a tray that pulls out. The inside is also redone in a very pretty fabric. I'm trying to sell a few things in the Mirabilia forum to pay for it. So far I have sold a kit and now waiting to see if anyone buys two pieces of hand dyed fabric I am willing to sell. Hopefully someone will! I won the trunk for $43.00 and it is $8.00 to ship. I sold the kit for $27.00 including shipping. I am so excited about this trunk. Eventually I would like a larger one to redo myself and I will keep my eyes open at yard sales and flea markets for one. I'm not sure how to put a link on here, but perhaps I can figure it out later. Well, that's it for now...I will keep you updated on my trunk!

busy week

I haven't had time to update my blog until today. It's been a very busy week, between cleaning, school functions and my allergies.

I have managed some stitching time this week and Blossom Harvest is getting closer and closer to happy dance time. I am so eager to start Enchanted Mermaid. I have been very good about not purchasing any other stitchery items. My rods that I ordered a month ago (I knew it would take a while) have arrived and I need to buy the ez tape for them, but will wait until Blossom is done. I jsut received an e-mail today from ABC stating my SMF order has arrived. Can't wait to get that in my hands. I ordered French Vineyard cashel for Fairy Moon.

DH and I went on a trunk hunt on his day off. I have wanted an old trunk for years to refinish and put my needlework in and have not had much luck finding one in decent shape that I could afford. We will continue to look.

I believe DH will start putting the timbers and cedar chips in next week for our "patio". We have a patio set on lay a way at Walmart and I can't wait to get it set up. I am going to love having a table outside that I can stitch and the kids and I can have lunch out there in the summer. It's going to be a bigger (aka more expensive) project than I first thought, but we will do a bit at a time and hopefully enjoy it by mid to end of June. Sooner if possible.

Well, off to go get Billy Jr. his second breakfast. He's 2 and cannot be filled no matter how hard I try, lol

while I wait...Mother's Day

While I wait for our ride to church, I thought I would update my blog!

Busy week cleaning all week. I changed curtains in the living room, took out the old recliner and replaced it with my great-grandmother's treasured rocker. This will not be where I stitch. I loved the comfort of the recliner, it just took up so much room and was getting pretty ragged. My cousin David wants it and is welcomed to it. I love when I rearrange things, it gives it a whole new look. I have a bit more room for my stitching now. I like to keep things set up rather than pack it away when I'm done. It takes too long to reset everything up. I also love the thought of stitching in my great-grandma's rocker. I have had this rocker for years and I cherish it, so I want to use it more than have it in a room where no one sits. I put some "hankies" (I collect them), on the back of it to hang over the front to give it an old fashioned look. It probably does it need it, the rocker is made of solid cherry and is very heavy. I remember sitting in my Great-grandma's lap when I was four, and she would rock me. She received this as a gift from a carpenter, she delivered his wife's baby. I find that so interesting! Anyway, I'm guessing the rocker is close to 75 years old. You would never be able to tell. The wooden arms are a little bit dis-colored in the spots where she would put her hands, this adds to its meaning to me. I hope my GG is looking down at me with a smile ~ she use to embroider everything under the sun. Doilies, pillows, pillow cases and hankies. I would give anything to have something that she embroidered. Unfortunately, my mom doesn't have a whole lot of sentiment and never saved anything. It breaks my heart to remember the things my mom threw out or sold. I was so young, that I didn't understand at the time. I was lucky to get this rocker. I have had it for 15 years and rescued it from my Mom's shed. I'm so glad I asked her for it at the time, even though I felt funny about it.

Well, I never thought I would be able to write so much about a rocker...... :0)

Rainy Saturday

It's a nasty rainy day here, but the weather man said we need the rain. The kids and I got lots of cleaning done this morning and we will be putting a movie on in a few minutes.

I hope to stitch while the movie is on. I really want to finish the first page of Blossom Harvest this weekend. I think I might be able to. I don't think I will reach 30 hours for the week, but twenty is still possible. That is still a lot of progress for me. She is coming along so beautifully, even if I do say so myself. This will be my first Mirabilia finish. I have Spring Queen started, but am unlikely to finish her on the fabric I have. It is 18 count white aida. When I started her I knew nothing about going over two or linen and hand dyed fabric, I was strictly an "aida girl". Wow, have things changed!

I am going to start keeping my eyes open for a frame for her. I really think I can have her done by mid-May. Can't wait to celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kids are waiting to start the movie, we are going to watch "Confessions of a teenage Drama Queen", hope they enjoy it while I stitch away.

Update for Blossom Harvest & American Idol shocker!

Just a really quick note! As of yesterday I have stitched 10 hours on Blossom this week. That is from Monday to Wednesday. That is unbelievable progress for me. I usually am lucky to get an hour a day. I haven't stitched yet today, but I hope to. I have to do some chores this morning, but I am having a hard time getting moving. Woke up with a horrible heachache and it's not going away.

I also want to say, that I can't believe Constatine was elimated from American Idol last night. I really think he should have been in the top three. Two of the guys who are still on are horrible! Oh well, I will vote for Bo or Carrie now.

Smokin' Needle!

I am so thrilled with the progress I have made this week on Blossom Harvest. I have put in over six hours since Monday. That is not counting the time I have spent today. I got so much beading done on it last night, and to work with some of the pinks really motivated me. I would love to get 15 hours in by next Monday. I really want to finish her so that I can start something else. She is coming along very nicely, even if I do say so myself!

I am trying to be good and not spend much time on the Mirabilia Message board. I spend way too much time there, LOL. But everyone is so nice that I enjoy it a lot. One of the ladies directed me toward a knitting board which I bookmarked. I haven't visited or read yet because I'm worried about getting into something else, lol.

Well, that's it for now...I was stitching but working on a large area of white now and was getting sleepy, so I thought I would update my blog :0)

Regular Schedule Returns

Well, after a week of everyone home for Spring vacation and DH home also for his vacation...life gets back to normal. I really enjoyed the week we had together, I think everyone did. It was relaxing and we got some things done.

As much as I love having everyone home, I do like getting back to my regular schedule. By 8:30 all the kids except youngest one, Billy (he's 2yrs. old), are off to school. Bill (dh) leaves for work by 5:30. It seemed a little hectic getting the younger two girls (Krista 10, Tara 5) off to school but they made the bus!

I hope to get some stitching time in today so I can really start cooking on Blossom Harvest. I really want to finish her. I may go back to Cinderella after her or finish up a Shepherds Bush sampler that I have 85 % completed. I may do that. It might be nice to have a quicker finish and one less WIP. After that maybe "Cindy" who knows. That darn "Enchanted Mermaid" is still haunting me, LOL. I may try to do a fairy first. I have a few kitted up and am waitng for fabric for Fairy Moon, who is one of my very favorties. We shall see who yells the loudest.

Well, I'm off to go stitch for a little bit before I finish my chores. I did a lot already so I'm not in a big hurry. It was wonderful. There was so much to look at. I especially enjoyed looking at the models. It's so nice to see them in person. She didn't have very many Mirabilia's and I was a little disappointed in that. But I do have enough of those kitted up to last a long time. I saw one Mirabilia done that totally floored me. I have never even given this pattern a second glance and now I WANT IT! It's Rose Celebration I think. It is to die for. I am going to have to get it, she didn't have any in stock. I purchased a very Small Just Nan called Purple Heart with the hummingbird charm, the purple heart mat to go with it. All the floss for Enchanted Mermaid (she is so calling my name!). Some of the beads and #8 braids that I need for The Kiss. And a small vinyl zip project bag. I was very good. I saw so much more that I would have loved but stayed within the limit I set for myself.

After the LNS we went to the Cracker Barrel restaurant. I have never been there and it was delicious. Cindy is a very nice person to spend time with. She is a new friend and this was our first outing together. We really got to know each other and I hope she had as good a time with me as I did with her. Next time we go, I would love for my Mother-in-law to come and I know Cindy would not mind a bit. She has met my MIL and thinks she's great.

Well, I am going to go do a floss toss with the thread I bought for Enchanted Mermaid to see how it will look on my fabric.

Quick Note - LNS trip!

Busy, busy, busy! It's an hour away and she has been there many times, but I have not. This will be my first time but I have ordered from this LNS. I can't wait to go and I know I am supposed to be on "the wagon" but I know I will have to purchase something. I plan on at least getting my floss for Enchanted Mermaid. I will post later what I purchase! With DH on vacation starting today, we went to a flea market in Rocky Hill Rhode Island. I found a few things that I was excited about. I bought six hankies, a few were tatted the others were crocheted. I bought an older cross stitch magazine for a quarter that had a very nice stocking pattern and a small Noah's arc ornie. Before we left I noticed a bag that said DMC and had to check it out. It was a needlepoint canvas and all the thread you would need to complete it. I bought it for five bucks! Not bad, considering I don't now how to needlepoint but have wanted to learn I thought this would be a cheap way to try it. I also purchased three little porcelain fairies that were only two dollars a piece. We had a great time. Everyone found "something" which is always nice.

With the kids off of school this week and DH on vacation, I don't anticiapte getting much stitching time or computer time in. I hope to be able to quickly go over the new posts on the Mirabilia board.

That's it for today!

First time blogger

Well, it took me a while but I figured it out. We have five children: Kayla 17, Tabitha 14, Krista 10, Tara 5 and Billy Jr. 2. Obivously with all these kids our house is seldom boring, LOL.

I love to cross-stitch, read, crochet and am learning to knit. I love the Monica Ferris needlework mysteries, the Left Behind Series (I'm only on number 6). Some of my favorite XS designers are Mirabilia, Shepherds Bush, Paula Vaughan, Just Nan and Lavener & Lace. I'm currently working on Blossom Harvest by Mirabilia. I also have a few other WIP's and UFO's. I love reading the message boards and I wish I knew more about computers. Links, those cute little dolls so many people have, and things like that. I hope to get a ditital camera by Christmas so I can post pics of family and projects.

That's all for now!
