Rainy Saturday

It's a nasty rainy day here, but the weather man said we need the rain. The kids and I got lots of cleaning done this morning and we will be putting a movie on in a few minutes.

I hope to stitch while the movie is on. I really want to finish the first page of Blossom Harvest this weekend. I think I might be able to. I don't think I will reach 30 hours for the week, but twenty is still possible. That is still a lot of progress for me. She is coming along so beautifully, even if I do say so myself. This will be my first Mirabilia finish. I have Spring Queen started, but am unlikely to finish her on the fabric I have. It is 18 count white aida. When I started her I knew nothing about going over two or linen and hand dyed fabric, I was strictly an "aida girl". Wow, have things changed!

I am going to start keeping my eyes open for a frame for her. I really think I can have her done by mid-May. Can't wait to celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kids are waiting to start the movie, we are going to watch "Confessions of a teenage Drama Queen", hope they enjoy it while I stitch away.

Update for Blossom Harvest & American Idol shocker!

Just a really quick note! As of yesterday I have stitched 10 hours on Blossom this week. That is from Monday to Wednesday. That is unbelievable progress for me. I usually am lucky to get an hour a day. I haven't stitched yet today, but I hope to. I have to do some chores this morning, but I am having a hard time getting moving. Woke up with a horrible heachache and it's not going away.

I also want to say, that I can't believe Constatine was elimated from American Idol last night. I really think he should have been in the top three. Two of the guys who are still on are horrible! Oh well, I will vote for Bo or Carrie now.

Smokin' Needle!

I am so thrilled with the progress I have made this week on Blossom Harvest. I have put in over six hours since Monday. That is not counting the time I have spent today. I got so much beading done on it last night, and to work with some of the pinks really motivated me. I would love to get 15 hours in by next Monday. I really want to finish her so that I can start something else. She is coming along very nicely, even if I do say so myself!

I am trying to be good and not spend much time on the Mirabilia Message board. I spend way too much time there, LOL. But everyone is so nice that I enjoy it a lot. One of the ladies directed me toward a knitting board which I bookmarked. I haven't visited or read yet because I'm worried about getting into something else, lol.

Well, that's it for now...I was stitching but working on a large area of white now and was getting sleepy, so I thought I would update my blog :0)

Regular Schedule Returns

Well, after a week of everyone home for Spring vacation and DH home also for his vacation...life gets back to normal. I really enjoyed the week we had together, I think everyone did. It was relaxing and we got some things done.

As much as I love having everyone home, I do like getting back to my regular schedule. By 8:30 all the kids except youngest one, Billy (he's 2yrs. old), are off to school. Bill (dh) leaves for work by 5:30. It seemed a little hectic getting the younger two girls (Krista 10, Tara 5) off to school but they made the bus!

I hope to get some stitching time in today so I can really start cooking on Blossom Harvest. I really want to finish her. I may go back to Cinderella after her or finish up a Shepherds Bush sampler that I have 85 % completed. I may do that. It might be nice to have a quicker finish and one less WIP. After that maybe "Cindy" who knows. That darn "Enchanted Mermaid" is still haunting me, LOL. I may try to do a fairy first. I have a few kitted up and am waitng for fabric for Fairy Moon, who is one of my very favorties. We shall see who yells the loudest.

Well, I'm off to go stitch for a little bit before I finish my chores. I did a lot already so I'm not in a big hurry. I need some stitching time...

My LNS Trip

Well, I went with Cindy to With Heart in Soul last night! It was wonderful. There was so much to look at. I especially enjoyed looking at the models. It's so nice to see them in person. She didn't have very many Mirabilia's and I was a little disappointed in that. But I do have enough of those kitted up to last a long time. I saw one Mirabilia done that totally floored me. I have never even given this pattern a second glance and now I WANT IT! It's Rose Celebration I think. It is to die for. I am going to have to get it, she didn't have any in stock. I purchased a very Small Just Nan called Purple Heart with the hummingbird charm, the purple heart mat to go with it. All the floss for Enchanted Mermaid (she is so calling my name!). Some of the beads and #8 braids that I need for The Kiss. And a small vinyl zip project bag. I was very good. I saw so much more that I would have loved but stayed within the limit I set for myself.

After the LNS we went to the Cracker Barrel restaurant. I have never been there and it was delicious. Cindy is a very nice person to spend time with. She is a new friend and this was our first outing together. We really got to know each other and I hope she had as good a time with me as I did with her. Next time we go, I would love for my Mother-in-law to come and I know Cindy would not mind a bit. She has met my MIL and thinks she's great.

Well, I am going to go do a floss toss with the thread I bought for Enchanted Mermaid to see how it will look on my fabric.

Quick Note - LNS trip!

Busy, busy, busy! Everyone is still on vacation and stitching time totals zero! But we are all enjoying have DH home and are having fun. I am going tonight with a friend, Cindy, to an almost LNS. It's an hour away and she has been there many times, but I have not. This will be my first time but I have ordered from this LNS. I can't wait to go and I know I am supposed to be on "the wagon" but I know I will have to purchase something. I plan on at least getting my floss for Enchanted Mermaid. I will post later what I purchase! Very excited!

Flea Market finds

Well, today was a very exciting day! With DH on vacation starting today, we went to a flea market in Rocky Hill Rhode Island. I found a few things that I was excited about. I bought six hankies, a few were tatted the others were crocheted. I bought an older cross stitch magazine for a quarter that had a very nice stocking pattern and a small Noah's arc ornie. Before we left I noticed a bag that said DMC and had to check it out. It was a needlepoint canvas and all the thread you would need to complete it. I bought it for five bucks! Not bad, considering I don't now how to needlepoint but have wanted to learn I thought this would be a cheap way to try it. I also purchased three little porcelain fairies that were only two dollars a piece. We had a great time. Everyone found "something" which is always nice.

With the kids off of school this week and DH on vacation, I don't anticiapte getting much stitching time or computer time in. I hope to be able to quickly go over the new posts on the Mirabilia board.

That's it for today!

First time blogger

Well, it took me a while but I figured it out. I think this will be a fun way to organize my thoughts. I hope to write often and about my favorite hobby. Cross-stitching of course. About my family, my friends and my faith.

A little bit about me: I am a 38 year old stay at home mom, married for almost 19 years this July. We have five children: Kayla 17, Tabitha 14, Krista 10, Tara 5 and Billy Jr. 2. Obivously with all these kids our house is seldom boring, LOL.

I love to cross-stitch, read, crochet and am learning to knit. I love the Monica Ferris needlework mysteries, the Left Behind Series (I'm only on number 6). Some of my favorite XS designers are Mirabilia, Shepherds Bush, Paula Vaughan, Just Nan and Lavener & Lace. I'm currently working on Blossom Harvest by Mirabilia. I also have a few other WIP's and UFO's. I love reading the message boards and I wish I knew more about computers. Links, those cute little dolls so many people have, and things like that. I hope to get a ditital camera by Christmas so I can post pics of family and projects.

That's all for now!
